I did a lot of research for a well made heater for my 10 X 12 greenhouse and found that this German made heater was made specifically for a winterized greenhouse. It required 220 volts so I had to hire an electrician (for an additional $600) which was well worth it because it drew a lot less electricity and the heater ran a lot more smoothly and efficiently. At the time I had bought my first heater of this model it had just been released for a larger greenhouse and it ran well for over four years before the thermostat died and it ran continuously so I replaced it and after doing more research this exact same model was still showing top ratings. I did a search and found that just about everyone who carried it was out of stock except for Planta Greenhouse who informed me that they just got a few more in and the clerk was so kind and sent my order directly to their warehouse, since it was dead of winter and I did not want to see most of my plants die due to freezing.. It arrived three days later and thank goodness my plants all survived :-). I don't know if the manufacture used all of the same parts, so I am hoping that the heater has an improved thermostat installed in it. The other good news was that it only cost about $20.00 more than the original one had cost me.

For a 10'x18' greenhouse (with polyethylene covering and 40Amp electric circuit), it does the job in Montreal (QC), but to make it safe during cold period in winter, I also added 2 Electric Greenhouse Heater & Fan PALMA (with Digital Thermostat - 5120 BTU). I also find VERY USEFUL the flexible plastic circulation tube (10 or 12 feet) to dissipate properly the warm air. And to make sure I'm covered if it breaks, I bought a second one :-) The only thing that would destroy my heating setting during winter would be an electrical blackout.

This greenhouse heater (after some online research) seemed to be the best one out there. It's a little more expensive than most, but I think worth the investment. We live in Eastern Oregon and the temperatures outside are dipping down below freezing at night. The heater is keeping the inside of the greenhouse above 50 degrees. That's great! Right now I'm getting zucchini and peas. The only reason I gave the heater four stars instead of five is that I wish the unit had an actual thermostat that would allow the user to set for a specific temperature.

This past winter the heater was just what I needed. I can not comments on the cooler because I have never had to use it. I have the green house empty this summer. As the weather cools down and the nights get too cool I will then move some of the cold weather sensitive plants in the greenhouse and I may have to use the cooling fan if the days cause the house to get too warm.
